GOES-18 Now Secondary Data Source Replacing GOES-17

On January 4, 2023, NOAA's National Environmental Satellite Data Service (NESDIS) transitioned the GOES-18 satellite into operations as GOES-West. GOES-18 replaced GOES-17 which had served as GOES-West. As of 17:00UT today, SWPC began using GOES-18 data as the secondary source space weather measurements. GOES-16 (GOES-East) remains primary for these measurements. Because of the switch, secondary data on X-ray, magnetometer, and electron dynamic plots begins at 17:00UT - the secondary data from GOES-17 prior to 17:00 is no longer shown.
